THALAKADU ( ಥಲಾ ಕಾಡ್)

Thalakadu is a one stop destination for adventurous,trekking and spot for ancient temples.Kaveri river which has started its journey from 'Talakaveri' changes its course towards south-west at Talakdu  adds a significant importance to the 'land of temples'.As per Etmology of Thalakadu its believed that they are almost 30 temples lay buried in sand brought by river bed.

The five Lingams in these temples are  believed to represent the five faces of Lord Shiva.It is believed that having darshan on full moon day of 'karthika masa' after having holy dip in the river Kaveri is auspicious . One must really admire the sculptures and carvings on the walls of temples which stood from ages till date will stand as a special attraction.






Keerthi Narayana temple established by Sri Ramanujacharya during his sojourn  in Karnataka is one amongest the ancient temples to be visited.



  

On the way towards your return journey from Thalakadu dont miss to watch the pious Kaveri,whose serene waters will rejuvenate your senses and will leave you with inexplicable bliss.
